"Tile Seawall Art Project"
The wall along the beachfront sidewalk in Capitola Village.
The tiles were purchased by individuals for $35.00 ea. as a fundraiser for Capitola.
The individuals then handpainted their creation of choice; to be applied as the wallfront.
GREAT idea!!
There is MUCH more tile covered wallspace than shows in this photo. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent
checking out this wonderful art project!
Make sure to check out a close-up look at some of the tiles in
my Contender gallery.

"What could be better after a long day in the water than to come ashore and be welcomed back to land by local art glistening in the sun? Where the ocean meets the sand is an innately striking sight just the way it is, but to make things all the more eye-catching, the seawall in Capitola has been lined with a mosaic of brightly colored, handcrafted tiles. The public reception this Sunday celebrates the completion of this latest project from the Capitola Art & Cultural Commission. With 1100 artists contributing symbols that reflect the theme “Capitola Memories: Sand, Sun & Sea,” the community effort is proof that art doesn’t just flourish throughout our county, it lines our shores."
