Ladies Camping Trip
LadyKatesPhotography > April 7

We have many different varieties of Iris in the landscape of our yard. They are one of the few flowers which apparently aren't 'Deer Candy'!
This is the first one of the season to show her pretty smiling face!

The TBD Challenge...11/24/08
The Challenge: Create a photo with your interpretation of the letters, "TBD."."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Bill Pador, Karina Boese, jawsnap, Creative Deviance,Johnloguk, Al Sharp, and myself.
The Result: Tiny Bells Dazzling!

I wanted to create this one, after thinking about 'TBD' for a while!! (These bells are @3/4" long)
However, I knew that I already had two images (taken earlier this month) which I could use for choice! I liked them as well, and they were so fitting for this challenge, that I've also posted both of them in my Contender gallery!

And this is our favorite mudhole!! (Yesterday I shared 'our favorite swimmin' hole!)
Definitely a favorite activity during the Ladies Camping Trip!! This incredible mud has the consistency of warm chocolate pudding!!
After we're totally covered, we get out and bake in the sun on one of the warm granite boulders!! After rinsing it off, our skin is smooth as silk!

This group of friends does have a Tribal name: Mud Mamas!!
Any of our buddies that haven't yet gone on the campin' trip are Mud Mama Wannabe's! This year, we had 16 in attendance!

I did use my tripod and the timer for this shot! Was quite the challenge for me to get back into the water and into position in time!!

Stacy, Sherry, Julie, Me, Liz, Kamryn

There's another Mud Mamas group shot in my Contender gallery!
LadyKatesPhotography > June 26

My attempts at getting a good shot of a Hummingbird haven't proved sharp enough....yet!
I've also found that I begin to run out of patience waiting for them to come back!!
So, I decided a little PS practice would be fun!

I included another shot, and PS practice, in my Contender Gallery

This week, each of the Ladies in our ever-so-fun flock, will be visiting me to 'borrow something'.
They will 'choose their color' from my wonderful collection of feather boas!! (The solid purple, solid black, and pink w/black tips have already been selected!)
We will be wearing these to the Raul Malo Show this coming Friday night!

........"Because we can!!"

I posted a DP and information about the show on January 31.

Weekly Challenge: 'Something borrowed'
LadyKatesPhotography > July 27

Hello again!
This is the first chance I've had to tend to a DP since my return from our Ladies camping trip last Wednesday night.
However, before I begin to share any-of the many- photos from 'camping in the Sierras', I have a much higher priority:
'McKinley'! Today was her time to leave this world; she will be greatly missed, by many :(
My deepest spympathies and compassion go out to our neighbors, McKinley's family.

McKinley was an incredibly beautiful, loving, wonderful, wise, sensitive, deep and old soul !!
For our dog, Roxy, McKinley was her best friend and protector.
I am very grateful and feel quite honored that we got to be a part of her life, and that she was a part of our lives!
Thank You, Chuck and Lisa for sharing her with us!
And Thank You, McKinley, for being who and what you were!!
Much love, and many Blessings!

 Hillary.....This one is for you!!

I was LMAO when I spotted this scene!! Certainly thought of you, managing to capture such wonderful images of pooches, while out for your walks. I was out walking, during my stay in Hawaii; this was the only 'pretty pooch' shot that I managed to get!!

The Tungsten Challenge...12/15/08
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Tungsten."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Johnloguk, Creative Deviance, The Curious Camel, MyKey, Trevlan, and myself.
The Result: Tungsten: A rare metallic element having a bright-gray color, a metallic luster, and a high melting point, 3410(degrees)C, and found in wolframite, tungstite and other minerals:
used in alloys of high-speed cutting tools, electric-lamp filaments, etc.
**********************************************************************************************************************
Yeah, Yeah, I know; it's boring! Especially compared to the submission from Trevlan!!
But, damn, he beat me to it!! Had to go for plan B!!

So, I'm in the hardware store, with my camera; took these three items off their shelves, laid them on the floor, and began taking a few shots. The 'helpful hardware guy' greets me with "Excuse me, do you need any help?"
Me: "Well, maybe! Do you have any more 'tungsten stuff'?!"
His reply: "Huummm, well.....have you checked out the hammers and drill bits?"
Me: "No, not yet........but thanks anyway!....I'm done now! I just LOVE these blades!!"
With that, I put them back on the shelves, and made my departure!
