THESE REALLY ARE CHICKENS; ALIVE AND WELL! ********************************************************************************************* I disciplined myself away from the camera so I could use that 'photo time' for adding to galleries. And THANK YOU for all the positive feedback re:the Regal Rooster! I really appreciate the comments, and the fact that you took the time to do so!! I was uploading into the new Poultry gallery today and started LOL when I ran across this one! Just had to share this one, in particular, with y'all, especially after the Sleek and Stately Rooster from yesterday! These are called 'Silkies'. They are SOOOO cute, soft and cuddly! Just wait until you see the breed called 'Frizzles'! I struggled with the decision of whether to introduce you to these cuties, or----after reading MyKey's comment re: yesterday's Rooster: "Looks like you used your barbering skills here to comb its feathers prior to the shoot!"----to show you what he looked like about 5 minutes later!! I included two more shots of the Rooster in my Contender gallery. And BTW: A few minutes ago, I read through the comments on Rick Willis' DP for today!! ROFLMAO!!!!!! The delapidating 'house(?) in the desert.........OH Yes! Let me get started on that little project next!! (Mine didn't look quite that bad when I first started the project, but it was close!) I will be enlisting Rockymtnmels to do the window treatments, Hillary for the closet organizing, MyKey for the landscaping (maybe she'll create and dress up a few rock stacks!?), Karina to plant pretty garden areas around the rocks, Dreamhat to build a pond-then add water lilys, Banjon can create a psycedelic light display, Sparky can build the barn and windmill, Andrea can haul stuff in the truck, LyndonMendoza can create some beautiful lighting for after dark, 300m can record the stats, CuriousCamel can build the aviary and bring the critters, Jean-Yves can bring in the horses, LauraJohnson can come in at the finish to add the bling, Dedman can provide the fortune-cookies, Irish can bring Johnny to entertain us, Alex can keep us laughing and King Johnloguk to keep us in food and drink while we're working!! But I will need my R&R time first, OK?!?! Greg and I leave in the morning for Big Sur! And I am really hoping to do absolutely nothing! (or at least as close to it as I am able!) Maybe a short little walk to catch a sunset image of the beautiful coastline. I'll add my favorite shot as my DP for this coming Friday! Until then, let's get this crew together; we could have that place lookin' 'So Right', really soon!! Have a healthy and happy next few days! Blessings!

At least I was well enough to stand at the kitchen sink; was watching the light come through another of my paperweights! I am just sooo easily entertained!! Thanks for your comments and well wishes.
LadyKatesPhotography > July 8 One of my highlights for the last eight years is a camping trip with a group of Lady friends! And next week is the beginning of our week-long adventure in the mountains! Yay!!!! We have three major rules: "NO MEN, NO KIDS, NO WHINING!!!" The slogan for this year: "Freeeeee, at last!!" Last year's sogan: "...Because we can!!" We often refer to this trip as a week long therapy session!! We laugh a lot!!!! Laughter IS some of the best medicine!! A couple of months ago, we lost a member of our 'Tribe' (as some Daily members will remember from a couple of my DP's) due to cancer :( While experiencing our upcoming time together, we all will be tremendously missing our dear Sue; aka "Pedicure Patti":( Two years ago, she arrived at the campground wearing this particular shirt!! This year, we will be flying this shirt as a memorial flag....in the center of the campsite!! BTW: I'm the second one in from the left!! I love to water-ski!! BTW#2: MyKey is also a member of our Tribe!!

Swear to goodness...........as soon as my partner put the top-hat on this handsome lil' rooster, he very slowly leaned forward to kiss his bride!! In unison, everyone standing in a semi-circle behind me let out an "Aaawwww!!" My 'Time for photos' today was spent starting a new gallery: Aruba My husband and I spent a week on the small, quaint, tropical desert island of Aruba, in December '06. This is one of my favorites photos from our visit; the sun was setting behind me. (This is SOOC) The California Lighthouse sits on a hilltop perch at Aruba's northermost tip. It's active days are over; the beacon itself has been closed to the public for a number of years, ever since someone committed suicide by jumping from its summit. The surrounding area features some of the island's most spectacular scenery--gentle sand dunes, rocky coral shoreline and turbulent waves. The structure itself gets its name from the 'California', a passenger ship that sank off the nearby coast before the lighthouse was completed in 1916.

LadyKatesPhotography > May 9 Billboard-type sign of James Dean - - just because! Way out in another area of Podunk Nowhere! Actually, James Dean was killed in a car accident on this Hwy.-west of here by a whole bunch of miles . This sign sits west of Lost Hills; we were on our return trip from the Mojave Desert. A different perspective of this (including one more priceless sign!) in my Contender gallery (Photo time today was spent adding to Mojave Desert gallery)
