Yesterday I said I'd save the story regarding 'the eyes' for another day!

A couple of years ago, my dear, dear friend Rikki bestowed upon me this beautifully decorated Jock Strap, as my Christmas present!!! Why? you might be thinking to yourself--or most probably asking outloud to your computer monitor--!! Because she could!

After the laughter subsided when I opened it--in front of several others--Rikki told the story about the night she was creating her 'new idea'. She said that I called her to chat about the upcoming annual Christmas get-together we would be attending. And during the conversation, I randomly asked her if she ever experienced any times where she ever caught herself doing something which was just totally superfluous, and seemingly a waste of time?? She said she could hardly contain herself, because as we were talking she was sewing eyes, lips, hair, etc. on to a Jock Strap!!!!

This was brought on by the fact that several months earlier, at my birthday party, Rikki received a prize during a game: a very prettily wrapped box containing a case of jock straps!!

That's our story, and we're stickin' to it! (And it lives on!)
LadyKatesPhotography > On the night this 'challenge' was presented, my husband and I had our grandson, Colby, for "a sleep-over"! The next morning, I suggested we take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

For whatever reason, God sprinkled an abundance of wildflowers in the Shell Creek area, which is 45 min. southeast of us in Atascadero. The blues, pinks and purples have yet to show their splendor.

We had a fabulous day! When we were almost home, Colby said "Hey, you know what? When I grow up, I want to marry Gramma Kathy!" After thanking him for such a wonderful compliment, he added "Yeah! You're welcome! I've always wanted to marry you,Gramma Kathy!"

(Was a shame that his eyes were closed, but I still liked this as the best of the bunch......a boy and his best friend!)

I have another gallery of wildflowers at Shell Creek from last year........ HERE

My soon-to-be daughter-in-law "Kimberli, the Bride-To-Be", at the Bridal Shower/Bachelorette party!! She met The Mud Mamas for the first time tonight! Not only did she do so with grace, humor and acceptance, but she fit right in!! And, she was also received with flying colors!!

Almost needless to say, we had a great time!
Now, I really need to go get some sleep!
Blessings to all!!

HELLOOO!!!
I've certainly experienced a wonderfully busy several weeks!! One month ago today, I was heading out for my annual camping trip with the Ladies; a week and a half later, I experienced the incredible opportunity of going to the Big Island of Hawaii to visit with my two sons, who are living in Hilo!! My daughter was able to come join us, which lifted my visit to the ultimate---I was spending time with all three of my children, while together in Paradise!!
It was a fabulous week, and I loved every minute of it....until it was time to leave! :(

This shot was taken at Richardson's Beach, which is not too far from the airport in Hilo. L to R: Travis, Me, Kamryn, Evan

I did take my laptop to Hawaii, and had plans to download photos each evening, and then post the days favorites as DP's! However, the internet didn't work with my computer.
I wasn't able to spend time dealing with the camping trip photos before I began taking photos in Hawaii.....now I am feeling a touch overwhelmed! This passion (obsession!?!?) I have for taking photos has created one heck of a job --even from just these last two trips--in sorting, organizing, creating galleries, etc., etc. (I'm certain that some DP community members can relate!?!?)
I returned home yesterday, and have at least begun the process!! And I must tell you....choosing which photos to post in my DP galleries is very difficult!! But....that is, in fact, the worst problem I have had today!!!!

I've included two additional Hawaii photos in my Contender gallery:
Richardson's Reflections

Yes! These flowers are real!!

My only 'photo time' today was to work with this shot from last year.

There is an additional element of excitement this Christmas......
my son, Travis and his beautiful fiancee Kimberli, are getting married on Dec. 27!!
I'm thrilled that the wedding will be in Shell Beach (Central Coast California), which is still 'local' for the rest of us!
The bride lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan (they're in MI now), and Travis lives in Hilo, Hawaii!
-----E-Harmony is a WONDERFULLY effective matchmaker!----

Suffice it to say that I'm a touch busy!!

 InOurTime.....this one is for you!

Presenting a few from the 'Cast of Characters' in our '1915 Tent City' historical reenactment.
Yes...that is me on the far left! Our Tent City Barber, Milo, is 3rd from the left.

I did hand the camera off to someone.
The lighting was very tough for this one! But, do with what you've got going on, and at least it gets the point across.

'Looking down' on a favorite spot, from our 7th floor lanai, in Maui.

This afternoon my husband asked how I'd feel about accompanying him to Hawaii in the near future!! He said he might like to go back to his favorite place again, which is where I took this shot in July of '07. Didn't take me long to answer him............with an affirmative!! :)

Johnloguk....this one is for you!!

I really love synchronicity! Last night as I was posting the pooch shot for Hillary, I had already made my choice for today's DP!

On Sunday, August 10, I was driving the road which takes you across the Big Island, from Hilo to Kona, when this rainbow began to appear! As I was taking the shots, I was thinking of the rainbows which you've posted, and that I would offer you this two-shot panorama! (The speck of white in the upper right is the moon!)
Hope your day was a touch brighter today!!

I'm heading up to San Francisco tomorrow with my friend, Rikki! My son, Travis--the Women's Soccer Coach, from the University at Hilo, Hawaii--is 'stateside' this week with his team. Saturday night we will be attending one of their games which will be played at Kezar Stadium (not too far from the Golden Gate bridge). Rikki and I will be spending the night at the same hotel as Travis, and the team, then saying our goodbyes in the morning. Then, she and I are heading off and meeting up with two other friends to attend a workshop at the Westin, Downtown. We're leaving ourselves flexibility as to whatever time we arrive home on Sunday night !!!

I won't be able to touch base w/ the Dailies until Monday or Tuesday! Blessings to all!! Have a fabulous weekend!!

I'll be working on 'Tent City' photos for quite a while!!

.........A Living 1915 Community.........
Located in the Central Coast area of California, Camp Atascadero was founded by E. G. Lewis in 1913; beginning as a community of canvas tents designed to house folks coming from all over the United States, and beyond, as they purchased their land and began to build their homes and businesses during the years of 1914-1917.
"Tent City" is a unique event, which relives the 1915 Tent City era. Our slice of Tent City life features local musicians actors, artisans, and historians working to re-create our local past as authentically as possible, including tents similar to those used for business and residential purposes while permanent structures were being built.
This annual event is a novel way to open a window into our local heritage; to educate others as to how this town was founded and colonized, and to gain perspective into how the early settlers lived their every day lives nearly a century before television, computers, and cell phones became commonplace.
"Tent City" is created by the help of wonderful community members coming together with contributions of time, effort, energy, skill, talent, passion, enthusiasm and sponsorships of money, services and products; transforming Camp Atascadero from being pages in history books to a modern reality!

I'm creating two galleries for Tent City images, and will be adding photos on a daily basis--until completion!!:
