 The Spring Flowers Challenge...04/06/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Spring Flowers."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: On the night this 'challenge' was presented, my husband and I had our grandson, Colby, for "a sleep-over"! The next morning, I suggested we take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

For whatever reason, God sprinkled an abundance of wildflowers in the Shell Creek area, which is 45 min. southeast of us, in Atascadero. The blues, pinks and purples have yet to show their splendor.

We had a fabulous day! When we were almost home, Colby said "Hey, you know what? When I grow up, I want to marry Gramma Kathy!" After thanking him for such a wonderful compliment, he added "Yeah! You're welcome! I've always wanted to marry you,Gramma Kathy!"

(Was a shame that his eyes were closed, but I still liked this as the best of the bunch......a boy and his best friend!)

My 'Time for photos' today was spent creating a gallery of my wildflower trek with Roxy, from yesterday.

These are the flowers we were sitting in!

After working at the 'Part-Time Job', I decided that my little best-buddy and I would go for a late afternoon drive, heading eastward in search of nature (especially wildflowers), solitude and peace! We found it all !! The Shell Creek area (several square miles), in particular, always provides a 'sextacular' spring show! The flowers will be in their full splendor in about 2-3 more weeks. Today, it was mostly blues and yellows.

My forever loyal and loving companion here is 'Roxy'; she is my shadow (lol! well, not in this photo!). After finding a good location, with quite a bit of flower color, Roxy and I set out on our walk. We'd been sitting at this spot--just listening, watching and being--when I started thinking about the DP which Kerry Ellis posted on March 21 ! I'm not sure if I ever even commented on it; certainly meant to, if I didn't. Kerry: March 21
What Kerry wrote, to accompany her photo, moved me to tears! And you're looking at the reason why!
Roxy and I were enjoying our time together, and I knew then, that my DP needed to be a photo of her and I together. Just where do you suppose the tripod was? Yes! In the car! So, here it is; the best I could do! (Seeing as I liked those three trees in the background!)
Roxy is 12 yrs. old; we've had her since she fit in my husband's hand! Within this last year, she has lost her hearing (breaks my heart) and her sight is on it's way out. So, Kerry, I took this photo, then gave her a treat and she and I sat in this meadow with the sun setting behind us. I laid with her, snuggled her, nuzzled my face in her fur!!
We know that her time for departure is drawing near. I will miss her more than I can possibly express.
