I have just spent the last two days, from 9-5, serving on Jury Duty! For the most part, I was in a chair, sitting still, in windowless rooms, attempting to listen attentively and NOT nod off! We are released for lunch, and I've quickly made my way outside, choosing to walk to a resturant. The location is in downtown San Luis Obispo (California).

There is an additional element of beauty in S.L.O. at this time of year: the incredibly gorgeous, periwinkle colored, fragrant, blossoming Jacaranda trees! I took my camera today, in hopes of being able to get some shots of a few of these beauties, which are sprinkled all around the city!
As soon as they dismissed us this afternoon, I headed straight for the car, grabbed the camera, and found the first photogenic Jacarandas, at the Mission. I dilly-dallied my way to the freeway, looking for other Jacarandas, and ended up at a little town park.
This was a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy the setting sun, the stunning colors and perfect weather!
A GREAT way to unwind after being cooped up in a Jury box!!

I created a new gallery to house some of these Jacaranda tree images, and a few other pretties which caught my attention this afternoon: How to unwind after Jury Duty!

!!Hey...Johnloguk!! I found out yesterday that you have a twin in this area!! He is a fellow juror! I even introduced myself to him during a break, explaining SmugMug and the Daily community, and that he has a twin in Lincoln, England!

I truly wish I could get a shot of him to show y'all ! After the SP's which John has shared with us, I am certain everyone would agree!
It's pretty uncanny!!

Please send prayers and positive this way!! I have to do the jury thing again tomorrow, then we get 4 days off!
Back again on Monday, through Wed., and maybe Thurs.! :( :(
LadyKatesPhotography > June 24

It's been a very busy week; I haven't posted a DP for a couple of days, nor have I been able to look through any of your wonderful photos, or share comments with y'all. Soon!!
This photo came from a shoot I did on June 14. Previously, I have posted DP's on April 3 and May 23 which were practice runs for this one....then, I used "Fannie Flamingo" as my model!! I didn't figure I'd have as long to work with Colby! However, he came through with flying 'bandanas'!!

I wanted to do this after dark, which was getting late for a three yr. old, but he revived when
our daughter told him "Come on, Honey....we're going to go play dress-up with Gramma!!"

On the way to the location, we centered the entire conversation towards him, to keep him awake, telling him we were taking him to a 'cowboy place'. We had brought his guitar, and told him he was going to get to be a country western singer! He was really liking this idea!!

While I was setting up, Samantha was helping him get into his 'cowboy' clothes. We hadn't thought to try on the boots before.....they didn't fit!! I took some shots with him barefoot, but when his feet started getting cold we had to put the socks back on!

The resturant was closed, and it's quite far from anything, so we told him he could sing his heart out!! Sing as loud as you want to Colby! Our mistake was that we had not taken another person with a video camera! It was one of the funniest things I seen in a long time! He put on quite a show! He was making up words to a song (we both really wish we remembered what the words were---it was funnnnny! Half-way through the shoot--rather, 'His Show'--he informed us that he was a country western Ozzy Osborne!!!!

On the way home, while we were still complimenting him on what a great show he did for us, he told us "Well, you're welcome! My pleasure!" Then added, "You know, I am a country western rock-n-roll star!!"
We're considering trying the entire thing again so that we could get it all on video!!!
It would be a YouTube smash!!
And, of course, Roxy loved the whole evening. She had her 'boy' singing to her!

While working in Shell Beach today, I drove past the Park and noticed a beautiful photo opportunity, which was a true artist at work!!
I introduced myself, and asked if I could take a photo of him. I explained the Daily Photo community within SmugMug; asking if he would mind if I posted one of the shots of him as my DP! He very graciously agreed!
This artist is Robert Morris, from Santa Maria (California); an incredible talent with his oil paints, and brushes. Any inquiries or comments about his art can be e-mailed to him at Rmorris365@hotmail.com.
It was a pleasure meeting you, Robert! Thank you! I created a gallery for you within my category of California Central Coast area
However, I have not finished uploading the photos yet! Probably won't have a chance to finish until Friday (16th).

The house he is using as subject matter is infamous in our county!
It has served as a model for many photographers and artists!
Two years ago, I entered a photo contest, with one of the shots I have taken of this house and was bestowed the honor of being one of the twelve winners! I have included that image in : Coastal gallery

Please check out another choice of the Artist At Work!! inContender gallery

Barren Ridge, Pine Tree Canyon (?!)
Looking northwest, towards California City.
We were specifically heading to this particular hillside to look for Feldspar Crystals.

I took the seperate shots for this image as an experiment for a practice session in PS.
Seven shots, verticle format, stitched together in Photomerge.
Yep! Surely created a rather large file size!!!!

Our vehicle rig is parked in the 'T" towards the center right.
